China Access 2008 Case Studies
Read nine case studies that profile organizations who have used the China Access 2008 process to help establish and/or extend their China presence.
China Access 2008 is the international economic ‘legacy’ program for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Through a consciously structured series of business events inside and outside China, China Access 2008 is utilising the years leading up to the Beijing Olympic Games to:
- expand the international profile of China’s rapidly emerging capabilities in the key growth industries of the 21st Century.
- facilitate international business partnering opportunities (both within China and overseas) and attract additional foreign participation in the identified Chinese growth industries.
- provide tangible strategic positioning and business development opportunities for both Western companies and their Chinese counterparts.
The main focus is on the biosciences - in energy, industrial biotechnology, agriculture, environmental remediation and healthcare - along with the important converging information and communications technologies and creative industries. These industries have been clearly identified by the country’s leadership as fundamental to the development of China’s future prosperity. There is be additional focus on ‘best-in-class’ examples from other selected key growth industry sectors.
China Access 2008 reciprocal business visit programs in China are the cornerstone of this unique business facilitation process. By focusing on “What’s different? What’s changing? and What are the best companies currently doing about it?”, these programs provide participants with a particularly time-and-cost-effective opportunity to closely consider their own Asia Pacific strategies in the light of current corporate best practice and the potential contribution that China may hold for these.
These programs draw on acknowledged thought and industry leaders and involve tailored opportunities for focused networking with a select group of business peers and senior government officials. The seven preceeding programs have a track record for generating tangible business outcomes for participants and the China Access 2008 stakeholders.
